Pathmalathan Pathmachaly

Pathmalathan Pathmachaly started learning the art of mirudangam under the renowned Guru (master), M.N. Sellathurai. He has learnt extensively in accordance with the age old tradition of "Guru Shishya Paramparai", where he has undergone rigorous and highly complicated training residing with his master. Later he learnt the complexities and intricacies of this art under one of the most famous and reputed Guru s of the country, "kalabhooshanam" A.Wickraman. Under his able guidance, Pathmalathan performed his "arangetram" , which is where an artist according to the karnatic tradition , performs on stage after mastering the art, at the age of sixteen.

Afterwards he has performed through out the country in recitals amounting to at least a three hundred, exclusive of the many television programs in which he has taken part. He is also an SLBC (Sri Lanka Broadcasting Cooperation) audition artist. He also plays other Karnatic percussion instruments such as "Ghatam" and "Ganjira".
