The Manipuri cultural arts troupe Ranganiketan, whose name literally means "House of Colorful Arts," is a diverse group of about 16 dancers, musicians, singers, martial artists, choreographers and craft artisans. All highly accomplished members of Manipur's artistic community, some of them are gurus (teachers) in their own respective fields of art. Located on India's eastern border with Myanmar (Burma), Manipur is a small, oval-shaped Indian state ringed by nine ranges of Himalayan mountains.
