Raho Langsepp

Raho Langsepp (born in Tartu 1968) has studied the use of the bamboo flute in Oriental cultures and medieval European music for many years. This has led him to interesting discoveries that he has put to use in his practice as a musician performing both medieval European and Oriental music. Over the years Raho Langsepp has participated in advanced classes taught by the best masters of their instruments, including W. Hazelet (baroque flute, the Netherlands), Ranjith Fernando (bamboo flute, Sri Lanka), Dan Laurin (recorder, Sweden) as well as many others. In 2001 Raho became the student of V. Hemapala Perera (bamboo flute, Sri Lanka). He has been the organiser of Tartu Early Music Festival since 1996. As of 2000 Raho Langsepp is President of the CEFEMA (Central European Festivals of Early Music Association). He is also active as a musician, a teacher of music and head of the concert agency Festivitas Artium as well as the Centre for Early and Oriental Music and the early music consort FA Schola.
