Schola Cantorum Basiliensis
Our performers share a common background in Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Switzerland), an internationally recognised centre for early music studies, as well as in their extensive experience of performing and interpreting European medieval music as faithfully as possible to the era's spirit. Raho Langsepp visited SCB for additional studies in December 1989. Agnieszka Budzinska, Anita Dettwiler and Lilian Langsepp studied at SCB from 1997 to 2000, Kelly Landerkin from 1995 to 1999. Since its founding in 1933, instruction by top-level musicians and scholars, excellent libraries, a balanced integration of performance and research at the SCB have brought together a truly international selection of students. SCB has made an enormous contribution to the research and study of early music in scholarly publications, yearbooks and series of early music recordings. SCB is more than just a research centre or educational institution. The atmosphere at SCB is characterised by cooperation, dedication and openness; there is always work that is being done - persistent and creative work. SCB is a fount to which everybody returns to study more, to have questions answered, to find information and inspiration. People who have studied or taught at the Schola have a special sensitivity to life, they are people moved by a cause, motivated by the love of their field of study. Everyone who returns there is always welcome, the dedication and resources of SCB will be at your disposal whenever you are looking for an answer to your questions.
The journey in music has no ending. We, the travellers, are always delighted to share the treasures we have found.
Lilian Langsepp (SCB 1997-2000)
