Janno Mäe

Janno Mäe has studied piano and singing at Tartu Heino Eller Music School. He has played guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and percussion in different groups. As he has been increasingly more concentrating on drums, his style has shifted from jazz through Renaissance and mediaeval music to ethnic rhythms and percussion. He has played with different groups playing church music, mediaeval music and ethnic music of different nations. He has appeared on more than ten CDs and one DVD. His desk drawer hides participant cards of many music festivals. In collaboration with Estonian Folk Music School and the Centre for Early and Oriental Music FA Schola, Janno Mäe leads the Trummipuu (Drum Tree) Studio where he teaches frame drum and West African drums.
